Juan Acosta
B.A., Psychology, 2019

Juan Acosta is a first-generation Mexican immigrant who began his career in advocacy as a teenager. At 21, he drafted a historic LGBTQ+ proclamation for his hometown of Woodland. He has held nonprofit leadership roles and led initiatives advancing community well-being. He currently oversees statewide initiatives in philanthropy. He spoke at the inaugural Youth Mental Health Action Forum at the White House. In 2025, he was named a Pride Honoree by the California Legislative LGBTQ Caucus.

Dr. Shelitha R. Campbell 
M.S., Nursing, 2003

Dr. Shelitha R. Campbell is a nurse practitioner, associate professor, clinician, entrepreneur, nonprofit executive, founder and community advocate. For nearly 30 years, she has advanced health equity, strengthened communities and prepared the next generation of nurses. She co-founded A Sista’s Touch to support Black women and girls through preparation, confidence, prevention, education and agency. Campbell holds a B.S., M.S. and a DNP. 

Leslie Carrara-Rudolph
B.A., Special Major, 1987  

Leslie Carrara-Rudolph is a children’s and family entertainer, puppeteer, voice actor, artist, writer, comedian and creator who has dedicated her life to championing the arts through community outreach, workshops and live shows. She is best known for playing the fairy-in-training Abby Cadabby on “Sesame Street,” for which she has received three Emmys and eight Emmy nominations.  

Dean Crispen 
B.S., Accounting, 1999

Dean Crispen has dedicated more than 30 years to the San Francisco Fire Department. A San Francisco native, he joined the department as a firefighter EMT in 1990 and rose through the ranks before being appointed the city’s 27th Fire Chief in 2025. Crispen has been recognized three times for bravery for rescuing people from burning homes and for saving a man suffering a heart attack while off duty. 
 

Dr. Jaliza Johnson
MBA, 2005
B.S. and M.S., Nursing, 2016

Dr. Jaliza Johnson is a respected nurse leader. After advancing professionally at Stanford Health Care, she became a director at its Center for Education, Research and Professional Development. An active member of several professional organizations, Johnson co-founded A Sista’s Touch, an Oakland nonprofit that supports young Black girls in their transition to womanhood and raises awareness about human trafficking. She is the first person in her family to earn a doctorate degree.  

Conall Jones
B.A., Cinema, 2005

Conall Jones is an Academy Award-winning documentary producer whose work spans films, series and investigative journalism. He has worked with filmmakers Wim Wenders, Morgan Spurlock and Michael Moore, and his work has appeared in The New Yorker, Vice, The Wall Street Journal and other major outlets. In 2026, his film “All the Empty Rooms” won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Film.
